What’s a party without music? Quintessentially, music helps to set the mood for any occasion and Cape-Town based ensemble, Kings Club, are the mood creators you want at your event.
The band shows up to events clad in designer suits (styled by the renowned Daniel Crouse of House of Crouse), with their instruments in tow and only one goal in mind, to create a vibe you’ll never forget.
Singer and guitarist, Werner Bekker, explains, “Kings Club is special because we bring a vibe. A party can be a dud until we show up.”
The first of its kind in South Africa, Kings Club do not require a stage or fancy lighting. There is no technical needed either and therefore no wasted time on a lengthy soundcheck. The only thing they really need is for you to bring your party spirit and those comfy dancing shoes.
Imagine the smooth sounds of saxophone, the enchanting melodies of guitar, the rhythmic beats of cajon, and the solid groove of double bass; combined with their charismatic charm and you’ve got yourself something really special.
Made up of top musicians and skilled instrumentalists in the Western Cape – all individual artists in their own right – Kings Club celebrate the art of live performance and with it the minor imperfections, allowing the artists true personalities to shine through the music. The band often coerce guests to sing along and dance on tables, offering an interactive experience, but keeping things classy, of course.
Newly formed, the band quickly rose to fame in a short span of time. They were founded by Entertainment Entrepreneur, Justin Paul Jansen, who saw a gap in the market and breathed life into Kings Club.
Justin adds, “The concept works really well for intimate events. Kings Club is successful because they love what they do and are really charming and charismatic. The guys know how to create a special atmosphere and engage with guests in a way that makes it hard not to join in on the fun.”
The group is made up of musicians Louis Malherbe on percussion, Geraint Bojé on bass, Werner Bekker and Liam McDermott on guitar and vocals, and interchangeable Matt Ehrenreich and Duncan Johnson on saxophone.
With all their individual experience and their vast knowledge of music, it couldn’t have been easy to put together a repertoire, but these self-proclaimed vibe creators have got it just right, keeping everyone from your trendy teenager to your grandma entertained. You can expect anything from The Beatles to Miley Cyrus, incorporating old classics with today’s modern hits. What more could you ask for?
