NYC-based collective Indo Warehouse continues its global expansion with its debut tour across Africa, bringing their signature blend of South Asian-inspired house and techno to new audiences.
Co-founded by Kahani and Kunal Merchant, Indo Warehouse has made a name for itself by fusing the rich musical heritage of South Asia with cutting-edge electronic sounds. After sweeping success in Europe, the U.S. and India, the collective has taken their immersive sound experience to Africa, marking a major milestone in their journey.
The tour kicked off on September 13th at the legendary Truth Nightclub in Johannesburg, South Africa. From there, Indo Warehouse brought their high-energy performances to Durban, Nairobi and Mauritius, creating a cultural crossover that celebrated the intersection of South Asian and African musical traditions.
With the global rise in genre-blending and culturally-rooted music, Indo Warehouse is standing at the forefront of this movement. Speaking about their first African tour, Kahani said, “We’ve always been deeply influenced by the Afro-house movement, and this tour felt like a natural extension of that admiration. The reception we received was overwhelming—performing alongside legends like Zakes Bantwini and Karyendasoul was a dream come true.”
Highlights of the tour included a special tent performance in Durban, where local promoters went above and beyond to create a unique atmosphere, as well as an unforgettable show in Mauritius, where they played to a crowd of over 2,000 people.
A standout moment of the tour was the release of Kahani’s track “Yalla” which fuses South Asian and African musical elements. The track, featuring renowned African musician Stevo Atambire, was strategically released during the African tour. The song represents a full-circle moment for the collective, combining their hallmark sound with local African influences.
Kahani remarked, “This track is a celebration of the cultural exchange that happens when two rich musical heritages meet.”
“Touring Africa has been incredibly inspiring, and we plan to make it an annual experience. We’re looking forward to future collaborations with African artists that will allow us to grow our sound even more,” said Kunal Merchant.
