Khan Khalii rids of her emotional baggage with visuals for “Lesedi Laka”

For Pretoria-born singer and songwriter Khan Khalii, being at one with nature and its cleansing power is a vivid creative force. One that led the direction of her latest music video, with the production prowess of Sibu Ngcobo whose cinematic craftsmanship shines on “Lesedi Laka.”

Anchored by a dreamy and soothing vocal register, “Lesedi Laka”(which translates to “my light”) is written from the perspective of rebirth and renewal, meant to heighten the frequency of healing, of letting go and finding hope.

This purge from despair translates succinctly into the visuals, which interplay between cleansing motions with the earth and in water. Khalii’s solo and group choreography with dancers Leago and Atang Metlhape also accentuate a kinetic language that washes away negative energies and welcomes a manifestation of new beginnings.

If you find yourself in search of release, to free yourself from the woes of being dealt a bad hand by life, you might want to add this meditative offering to your playlist.
