Androgenius presents The Gay Agenda Tour starting in Cape Town this Feb

Kicking off in Cape Town, Androgenius is set to embark on their first ever cross-country tour and you’re guaranteed unbridled hedonism set to a soul-hop soundtrack.

It’s been two years since your favourite soul-hop six-piece stepped onto stage to serenade you, but the wait is almost over, and it will soon be time for Cape Town’s cuties to assemble in all their fashionable glory.

Androgenius is getting the band back together for their first ever cross-country tour and where better to kick off “The Gay Agenda” Tour than in Africa’s queer capital?

Comprising Al Clapper (vocalist & front man), Amy ‘Hoffenpipes’ Hoffenberg (vocals), Nobuhle Ashanti (keyboard), Callum McDonald (guitar), Ray Morgan (drums), Alex Mayers (bass, first half of the tour) and Langa Dubazana (bass, second half of the tour), the band has aptly dubbed their signature sound “soul-hop,” dripping with ‘90’s R&B and hip-hop stylings, as well as jazz sensibility, pop and funk inflections, and the filthiest, grooviest rhythm section south of the Equator.

Answering Concerts SA’s 2024 funding call, Androgenius is one of 62 acts who will receive funding support for personal projects taking place between 1 February and 31 April, 2025.

“We’re super grateful for Concerts SA and their partners, the Festival Enterprise Catalyst, SAMRO, The National Treasury Jobs Fund, as well as IKS Cultural Consulting, for their funding support, because this literally wouldn’t be possible without them, for real,” says Clapper, “And this isn’t the first time they’re helping us breathe fresh life into our music.”
