Goo Goo Dolls add a second Cape Town show to their South African tour this March

After postponing their South African tour to March this year due to lead singer John Rzeznik’s recent pneumonia diagnosis, Goo Goo Dolls have now added a second show to the Cape Town leg of their South African tour on the 26th of March 2025.

With special guest Just Jinjer as the official supporting act of the night, the show will take place at the sprawling Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, following a sold out show on Tuesday the 25th of March.

“We’re excited to finally be playing our own shows in South Africa,” says lead bassist and vocalist Robby Takac. “The last time we were in South Africa was in 2003. We played as a supporting act alongside Peter Gabriel and Annie Lennox of Eurythmics. It was a brilliant experience, but this time we get to play a longer set that’s just our own.”

“It’s difficult to travel all that way just to play for 45 minutes,” he jokingly adds.

In addition to their Cape Town shows, Goo Goo Dolls will also play in Durban at the ICC Arena on the 27th of March, supported by Roan Ash, and in Pretoria at the Voortrekker Monument on the 29th of March, supported by Ross Learmonth, Matthew Mole and Roan Ash.

Formed by John Rzeznik and Robby Takac in Buffalo, NY during 1986, Goo Goo Dolls have quietly broken records, contributed a string of staples to the American songbook, connected to millions of fans, and had an indelible impact on popular music for the last three decades.

Beyond selling 15 million records worldwide, the group has garnered four GRAMMY® Award nominations and nearly a dozen platinum and gold singles combined. As a result, they hold the all-time radio record for Most Top 10 Singles.

“You can expect old and new songs,” says Takac. “We want to bring fans a night of absolutely classic rock.”
