The Death Of Glitter returns this Feb with Moonchild Sanelly, Kat Davids and more

D.O.G (The Death Of Glitter) is back with their next vision of queer utopia, and it’s going to be a big one.

Happening on February 28th, 2025, PARTY & PLAY imagines a technicolour club kid playground. A sensory feast rooted in playfulness and jouissance. A space inspired by imagination and childlike wonder, that injects unbridled joy into D.O.G’s infamously hedonistic queer cesspool.

Since relaunching in May last year, The Death Of Glitter has grown from strength to strength, solidifying its place as Cape Town’s most fabulous and revered LGBQTIA+ nightlife event.

“Our community needs spaces of frivolity, now more than ever,” says D.O.G founder and Creative Director Tazmé Pillay. “We are entering into a moment of chaos. Locating the dance floor as a place of respite and playfulness is what we need to prepare ourselves for the reality of that moment. We need these utopias to not just survive – but thrive.”

Located at Alley Cape Town, Paarden Eiland, the intimate and accessible warehouse space will be transformed by D.O.G’s creative team, including renowned lighting designer Kieran McGregor and digital artist Scumboy, under the creative direction of Tazmé Pillay.

Off the back of her recently released sophomore effort Full Moon, South African pop star and “ghetto rave” pioneer Moonchild Sanelly will be making a special stop at D.O.G, giving South African fans a taste of what to expect from her upcoming European tour.

Berlin dub techno and body music DJ Kat Davids will also go back-to-back with father of the house Phijos, while DRAGMOTHER joins Cape Town-based producer and Kulture Lab founder Tipp.Exe behind the decks for what promises to be a bass-boosted, booty shaking deep dive into the fringes of queer club music.

Emerging Afro-tech DJ Soulchoke sets the tone for the night with their expert selections, while clubkid darling and The Princess Of Gqom, Elle, brings her fearless blend of gqom, pop and hip-house to the floor. Elle will be joined by Cape Town drag superstar Ina Propriette.

Closing off the night is D.O.G’s first daughter, DJ and producer Tactix, whose high energy, bass and tech-focused sets have set Cape Town dance floors ablaze.

As always, D.O.G looks to provide a space of safety and visibility for the queer community – those who want to attend but face financial challenges are encouraged to contact D.O.G directly at info@thedog.co.za for information on limited community tickets.

Phase 1 tickets can now be purchased here. There will also be limited ticket sales at the door.

D.O.G champions the visibility of historically marginalised identities. POC, queer, trans, non-binary and femme bodies call D.O.G home and will be given preference. FEMMES TO THE FRONT.
