One of our favourite indie-rock bands right now—Coasters—has just dropped a wildly imaginative and FUN music video for their latest track “U Wanna?” and it’s deadpan with cinematic flair.
Set on a sun-bleached, sandy beach world, the visual follows our musical duo on a mysterious journey in search of something—or someone. They’re parched, driven and drawn toward the ocean, where their true mission is revealed: to summon a hairy sea creature. But the tides turn… and the creature finds them first!
What follows is an underwater struggle between myth and musician—chaotic, beautiful and absurd.
Written, filmed and directed by Lola Dollimore, this piece blends a love for old-school slapstick with visually striking storytelling, and it honestly feels like the perfect dose of surrealism to accompany Coasters’ dreamy folk-pop melodies.
But what’s more, this music video is a bold new extension of the band’s aesthetic. It’s a side to them we’ve never seen before—perhaps more playful, and certainly poised for more creative risk-taking.
All in all, we absolutely cannot wait for these guys to drop new music, because so far everything they’ve released has been pure gold, and “U Wanna?” is a cheeky little reminder of how good they can be when they’re on form.
