Da Capo is Apple Music’s inaugural Isgubhu DJ Mix series cover star

Apple Music is launching their Isgubhu DJ Mix series, which promises a deep dive into the sounds of Africa’s electronic music scene. To celebrate this new initiative, legendary South African DJ and producer Da Capo will appear as the debut cover star, cementing his status as one of the world’s finest purveyors of Afro-House music.

“My sound has evolved so much over the past decade, and I love being able to express that journey through my sets,” he tells TATC. “I’m always drawn to emotion and storytelling in sound. I love the way music can create space for connection,” he adds.

Born Nicodimas Sekheta Mogashoa in Seshego, South Africa, Da Capo is entirely self-taught, and at just twenty-years-old he had already signed his first major recording deal with NH Records.

In 2015, he released the acclaimed Touched EP under Soulistic Music, which included the smash hit “Speed of Sound” featuring Tresor.

Now, ten years later, he shares his long awaited project Indigo Child II: Love & Frequency, a deeply personal offering that not only honours his musical journey thus far, but showcases the next evolution of his sound.

“I enjoy pushing boundaries, both sonically and creatively,” he tells TATC. “I think that’s where the magic happens, in those moments where you challenge yourself and take risks. Music has never just been a skill or a career for me—it has always felt like a calling. It’s something I’m deeply grateful to grow with, year after year.”

“This mix is a reflection of all of that. It’s spiritual, high-vibrational and rooted in everything that’s shaped me, both personally and creatively,” he says.

Isgubhu represents the best in African dance and electronic music – from Amapiano and 3 Step through to Afro House and Afro Tech, genres that are dominating dance floors and festival stages from Miami to Ibiza.
