Up The Creek Outdoor Music Festival is officially warming up for its 2026 return, and this year it’s throwing out a lilo to emerging local talent. The festival has announced a nationwide artist search, with the winning act landing a coveted performance slot on the iconic River Stage on Friday, 6 February 2026.
Backed by 5FM, the #CreekerArtistSearch is the brainchild of festival organisers and co-owners Jeremy Loops and Damon Forbes of BreakOut Events, who are doubling down on their commitment to uplifting South African artists. One solo act or band will be selected to perform in front of the festival’s 2,500-strong crowd, sharing a bill with more than 50 artists across the weekend.
To enter, musicians simply need to post a performance video on social media, tag @5FM and @upthecreek_festival, and use the hashtag #5FMxUpTheCreek. The winner will be announced by 17 January 2026 and will receive travel reimbursement and basic on-site accommodation.
Set to take place from 5–8 February along the banks of the Breede River near Swellendam, Up The Creek is one of South Africa’s longest-running outdoor festivals, and next year’s edition is already shaping up to be a sold-out affair, with Early Bird tickets gone in hours and Phase 1 tickets moving fast.
