Following the release of “Too Easy” and “Crash Out“, singer-songwriter, producer, and DJ Tinashe has released “Melatonon,” third single from her upcoming album Popstar and easily the best so far.
Produced by Zack Sekoff, nightfeelings and Ricky Reed, the bass-pop track pairs sticky, intercutting beats with a hypnotic, pulsing energy and rubbery acid house synths, continuing the multi-platinum artist’s knack for moving fluidly between pop, R&B, hip-hop and club music.
The experimental edge of “Melatonin” carries into its accompanying music video, directed by 91 Rules. Built around dance, the visual brings together performers across ballet, hip-hop and ballroom, while Tinashe moves through a series of striking avant-garde looks, and offers another glimpse into Popstar’s high-energy, choreography-heavy world. The album, Tinashe’s eighth, is due out on 25 September.
Popstar arrives after a run of major successes for Tinashe, including her 2024 album Quantum Baby and its breakout hit “Nasty”, which has surpassed 500 million global streams. Her collaboration with Disco Lines, “No Broke Boys”, later reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and won Dance Song of the Year at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
