Curated by KAYA presents four nights of intimate global sounds in Cape Town

Curated by KAYA is bringing four nights of stripped-back performances to Cape Town for WOMAD Festival. Running from 17–20 September, the Curated by KAYA programme connects local artists with musicians from across the world. The intimate series explores folk, jazz, soul, electronic and traditional music, with each night offering a different combination of local and international sounds.

The series opened last night on 17 September with South African artists Dhahabu, Pema Africa and The Official DJ alongside Italian blues and folk musician Enrico Cipollini. On 18 September, Italian folk ensemble Cisalpipers brings the rare Piva Emiliana bagpipe into the mix, joined by Swedish vocalist Anna Falt, Estonian jazz artist Susanna Aleksandra, and South African musicians Darren English and Wesley Rustin.

The programme continues on 19 September with Jordan Baker, Chilean-Canadian duo Chambre Rouge, Lizzie Gaisford, ASA and a showcase of rare Asian and global instruments from Randy Raine-Reusch and Michael Aihoshi.

The final night on 20 September brings together South African acts Cheyenne Hill, Forth Form and Arashka & The Shakti Project with New Zealand artist Kapowairua, whose music draws on Māori traditions, R&B, soul and reggae.

Across the four-night run, KAYA is positioning the series as an opportunity to hear music and cultural traditions outside their usual contexts, while keeping the performances intimate and stripped back.

Tickets are available for each concert through Fixr.
