Miley drops her last name and her new dance-pop single, “Bass Persuades”

After dropping her last name for her new era, pop superstar and Grammy Award winning artist Miley caused mass gay panic earlier today after dropping something else — the lead single and title track from her upcoming tenth studio album, Bass Persuades.

And girl, it’s a banger.

Miss Miley is serving us Pop with a capital “P.” “Bass Persuades” is a dark, synth-heavy dance-pop track. It pulls influence from the golden era of the genre, in vein of mid-2000’s classics like Britney Spears’ Blackout, Madonna’s Confessions On A Dance Floor, and Lady Gaga’s The Fame Monster to create something that sounds nostalgic, but fresh for the current pop music landscape.

The single is accompanied by an equally as homage filled music video, directed by Miley’s close collaborator Mert Alas and featuring so. much. choreo! We are dancing tonight!

Bass Persuades is Miley’s first album under Atlantic Records, and will be released everywhere on September 18.
