Rosé has released “new trick”, a high-energy new single selected for Apple’s latest “Shot on iPhone” campaign. The dreamy alt-pop track sees the BLACKPINK star moving through heartbreak with a newfound resilience, blending the energy of 90s rom-coms with early-2000s punk-rock and a playful modern pop edge. “new trick” arrives as Rosé continues work on the follow-up to her 2024 debut solo album rosie.
The accompanying music video was directed by Dave Meyers, whose previous credits include work with Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar and Ariana Grande, and was shot entirely on the new iPhone 18 Pro. The video leans into the track’s youthful energy, with Rosé moving through a series of vibrant, playful settings. The latest campaign follows previous “Shot on iPhone” music videos including The Weeknd’s “Dancing In The Flames”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Get Him Back!” and Lady Gaga’s “Stupid Love”.
Rosé has described “new trick” as “possibly the cutest thing” she and songwriter Amy Allen have made together. She also teased the next chapter of her solo career, saying she has been working on new music while figuring out “the perfect fine line” between the world she wants to create and how she is evolving as an artist.
