As far as first time festivals go, last year’s Electric Vines was a huge success with festival-goers taking to social media to express their approval, excitement and new found love for the new kid on the block.
Aside from the incredible line-up, festival-goers enjoyed luxury services such as hot showers, a ladies den with electricity, wash basins and fully serviced ablutions at no extra cost.
2015 will see many new exciting modifications for the festival. The first being a venue change. Electric Vines moves to Wildekrans Wine Estate, R43 Botrivier. Only 50 min from Cape Town on the N2 (25 mins from Somerset West and Hermanus), which means the venue is now far closer and more accessible to those travelling from Cape Town.
“We received incredible feedback from last years festival at the end of Electric Vines 2014. Two main points came up repeatedly, was the 2.30 min drive to Arabella Wines, which seemed simply too far for many. The farm also had no water source for people to cool off in the amazing summer heat of Western Cape. We therefore, looked at venues closer to Cape Town and Wildekrans ultimately ticked all the boxes” stated Matt Hallowes, Festival Director Mattchbox Productions.
Another impressive talking point from 2014’s event was the line-up which included Prime Circle, Matthew Mole, Sun City (Australia), MonArk, Goodluck, Gangs of Ballet, Majozi and Jimmy Nevis to name but a few of the 36 incredible acts. 2015 will be no different, with Electric Vines again, looking to book the hottest acts of 2015 to bring in the New Year.
This year the festival also announces the appointment of South Africa’s biggest supporter of local artists, Catherine Grenfell. Cath has joined the Mattch Box team and will be heading up Artist & Media Relations. Cath will have the most demanding task of booking acts for Electric Vines. With Cath’s finger on the pulse of South African music, this will only mean good things for those attending 2015’s event.
Cath Grenfell: “I really enjoyed Working on electric vines last year and felt that I could get more involved this year and go back to my production roots. So I was very excited when Matt got me on board to help with artists and production for Electric vines. I truly believe in this festival and feel that this festival will grow to one of the biggest New Year’s festivals in the country.”
Electric Vines 2015 will witness a notable line-up of over 30 acts on 3 stages over 2 days. The acoustic stage will run from morning into the late afternoon where the bigger, louder acts will party you into the night on the main stage.
To keep all festival goers cooled off, 2015 includes the fabulous new addition of the ‘Beach Bar’. This much needed area of the venue will have a refreshing dam for revellers to cool off in, along with a bar and DJ for those looking for a more upbeat vibe during the day.
Watch Electric Vines social media this week for the announcement of the first 6 Main Stage acts.
