Thomas Krane: Dark Corners

Soon to release his awaited second album, “Bone Tower” on the 18th of September, Thomas Krane recently dropped the first single off the project, ‘Dark Corners’ and this fantastic piece of music only bodes well for the musician’s latest work.

Deeply resonating guitar progressions start the track off on a surprisingly powerful, serious note. The sound is full and gorgeously well-rounded, overflowing with a wide variety of complementary instrumentals and manifest percussion. The slow, gentle melody falls occasionally into vibrant instrumental riffs, dominated by lighter guitar work and bizarre percussion, all weaving in and out of one another to create a surprisingly pleasing off-kilter element to the song.

Eerily whispered backing vocals introduce themselves during the second, adding an unexpected strangely ethereal side to the song as a whole. This coupled with a sudden bout of whining electric guitar transforms the song from an acoustic ballad to an unambiguously weird anthem of overwhelming love.

Simply, the fact that Krane is capable of pulling off such an unusual transformation within four minutes gives the highly anticipatory impression that there is certainly something remarkable in store on the upcoming album.
