A medical examiner has determined that Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell killed himself by hanging in a Detroit hotel room after he performed a concert on Wednesday evening.
Cornell was found unresponsive in his bathroom and two Detroit newspapers had earlier cited a police spokesman, that Cornell was found with “a band around his neck”.
Cornell was 52 years old at the time of his death and had just performed with Soundgarden at Detroit’s Fox Theatre.
