Pedro Barbosa taps right into his Latino roots in his Reggaeton pop banger “Latin Song”

I have to be honest and say that the last thing I ever expected from Pedro Barbosa was for him to go full Latino on us and reel out a Spanish track – but that’s just what he’s done.

“Latin Song” sees Barbosa tapping into his Mozambican-Portuguese heritage, and a childhood fed on a steady diet of Latino music. He’s finally given this vague linguistic exoticism some legs and penned a swoon-worthy Reggaeton banger – and it’s right up there alongside “Despacito” in my books.

It’s also probably the most commercial he’s gone with his sound. Pop hooks are rife, as are rolling Spanish consonants and cheeky tempo changes. “Latin Song” oozes warmth and almost sultry appeal – the latter appearing a whole lot more in the club dancers’ audition of the music video, where Barbosa plays the role of indulgently handsome bartender in a dusky club as three potential dancers vie for the job.

There’s not much to it really, though – and the visual is probably the only place where the release falls short. That being said, anywhere the video doesn’t quite deliver, the track itself does ten-fold. It’s a story of facing the crossroads of life, and the victory which meets us at the end of the tunnel. It’s a rip-roaring banger here to make you move, and it sounds straight outta Mexico – in the very best way.
