The Medicine Dolls put their spin on Talking Heads classic “Psycho Killer” in their latest single and video

The Medicine Dolls take on Talking Heads anthem “Psycho Killer”, giving the iconic track a healthy dose of chaos in their latest single and video.

Taken from 2020’s Filth and Wisdom, this “biting, post-punk take” on a post-punk classic does well to stay true to the original while mixing in a good dose of the controlled chaos that defines The Medicine Dolls’ sound, the organ and back-up singers adding an extra level of menace.

At first glance the video seems like not-much-more than your standard, well-produced performance video but with time comes a growing sense of unease. The lighting is simple but enigmatic and gives the piece a borderline surreal feel while the dress-clad back-up singers echo back-up dancers of the mid-twentieth century but with enough intensity to make it seem aggressively parodic and add to the overall frenzy.

Without going out of their way The Medicine Dolls manage to create something complex and complimentary, a subtly intriguing video that captures the cover’s essence.
