Mecca Mind’s debut single and video, “Straight Vibin’”, gets real about the chaos that comes with moving to the big city

Small town boy moved to the big city and wrote about it. Well not quite, but Mecca Mind was born and bred in Bloemfontein, which is about as small town as cities can get. He moved down south last year to make a fresh start in Cape Town, and penned an ode to the trials and tribulations he was met with.

“Straight Vibin’” is the result: a slice of peace amidst the chaos that comes with a relocation to a place as vibrant as the Mother City. He drops clear-cut bars over a minimalist, percussive beat, a slow-burning ambience keeping the tempo of the track decidedly chilled.

He gets sentimental and just a little spiritual as he admires the night sky in the vein of finding a calm space to anchor himself. The accompanying visual is picturesque and vaguely retro. Mecca Mind raps on the Chapman’s Peak mountainside, roses feature abundantly in lieu of his upcoming tape titled Roses, while soothing minimalism and subdued toned still lend the sort of eye-catching aesthetic which might just make Mecca Mind stand out from the heaving crowd.
