Springbok Nude Girls get all kinds of trippy in their video for “Emerging Submarines”

Springbok Nude Girls ramp up the hype for their next album with an utterly bonkers video for “Emerging Submarines”, the band’s latest single.

Taken from their upcoming album Partypocalypse – set for release on the 3rd of September via Mongrel Records – “Emerging Submarines” starts off with a frantic riff courtesy of guitarist Theo Crous that leads into a layered, revolutionary song defined by its ceaselessly infectious militaristic bite and Arno Carstens’ unnervingly deadpan delivery.

The video, and you’ll have to excuse my language here, is absolutely bat-shit. Shot at the studio of renowned artist and sculptor Lionel Smit – who directed and edited the production on top of handling the camera-work – it takes the form of a frenetic, fast-cut performance video which all sounds pretty standard but for the visuals superimposed over it.

In what can only be described as a psychedelic trip gone awry Carstens and co. find themselves submerged under all sorts of aquatic anarchy as tripped-out jellyfish and sharks head off on a mission fraternise with the nightmare-fuel that exists in the depths of our oceans.

“Emerging Submarines” is a lot to take in on every level. The song itself feels like a descent down an anarchic rabbit-hole while the video could potentially, with the right (or wrong) chemicals, be a one-way trip into another dimension.
