Bae Electronica & With Love The Agency Announce the Raise The Bar Programme

Bae Electronica and With Love The Agency in partnership with the Music In Africa Foundation, present the Raise The Bar Programme. Developed as part of the Music In Africa Live program, which is supported by the German Federal Foreign Office, Siemens Stiftung, and Goethe-Institute, the project seeks to bolster the presence of women in other aspects of the music industry, as well as equip them with the skillset necessary for survival in an otherwise impenetrable industry.

The programme consists of three tiers: Hybrid internships with mentors Zethu Gqola (Marketing Strategist), Jess White (Akum Agency)  and Darwin Petersen (Jet Black Agency); online sessions facilitated by shesaid.so South Africa where participants shall gain insights from a leading network of industry professionals — from PR agencies to distributors, as well as booking agents and more; and a podcast series produced by Texx and the City aimed at uncovering the inner workings and best practices in music marketing, PR, visual storytelling and the business of running a record label as an artist.

Jackie Queens, founder of Bae Electronica, says:,“Since becoming an artist manager, I have seen many initiatives to empower and support artists, but almost none for music professionals, especially women who are underrepresented in decision-making positions. Industry-wide, mentorship programs and targeted interventions designed to address  discrimination and inequality are lacking.”

As a result, the programme aims to advocate for gender equality for women as music professionals, develop women’s skills, facilitate connections, and promote women as experts in their fields. The internship roles are Junior Artist Manager, Junior Booking Agent, as well as Junior Marketing Manager. Applications for the internship open on 28 July until 8 August 2022.
