Somusiciz new EP Love Me Beneath My Space takes the listener on a captivating journey

Somusiciz‘s latest EP, Love Me Beneath My Space channels captivating beats and relatable storyline, in a three-track offering takes listeners on a melodic journey through love, heartbreak, and redemption. Featuring a remix of two original tracks from Somusiciz’s previous EP, Only Fools Rush In, the revamped project tells the story of a couple’s relationship and the events that transpired from the beginning to the end.

Opener “Beneath My Space – Remix” featuring Anoni, is a vocal-chopped version of the original track that focuses on the primary narrative of the track’s music video. Lyrics centre around secrets that will eventually be exposed – while the music video follows a love interest getting caught int the act of cheating. Somusiciz navigates the trap soul element of the song exceptionally well.

Tracks two and three, “Love Me – Amapiano Remix” featuring Tarryn Coltman and “Love Me – Interlude” featuring Coltman, respectively, speak to a girlfriend’s complaints about how distant they have become during the course of the relationship. The repeated line, “Love you like tomorrow is never coming, if you love me like it’s all of me or nothing”, reveals the girlfriend’s deep investment in the relationship despite her partner’s cheating. This is a relatable trope in trap soul music that rises time and time again.

Overall, Love Me Beneath My Space is a well-crafted offering that keeps the listener engaged with its catchy beats and relatable storyline. The intentional similarities between tracks two and three serve to maintain the musical energy throughout the EP, while the music video provides a visual representation of the narrative. While there’s plenty of room to grow on the visual front, this EP sees Somusiciz showcase his potential for success.
