Ozzy Osbourne reacts to solo Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction

Ozzy Osbourne has shared his reaction to being inducted into the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, describing the acknowledgement as “special.”

The announcement, made by the Rock Hall on the 22nd of April, unveiled the 16 acts and figures set to join this year’s esteemed class.

Among them are Cher, Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, A Tribe Called Quest, Peter Frampton, Foreigner, and Kool & The Gang, alongside Osbourne.

Although previously inducted as part of Black Sabbath, Osbourne had awaited recognition as a solo artist, a nomination finally granted in February after years of anticipation. Ozzy expressed his gratitude on Instagram.

The push for Osbourne’s solo induction came notably from his wife and manager Sharon, who advocated for his inclusion on platforms like The Adam Carolla Show.

Sharon emphasized Osbourne’s significant contributions as a solo artist, underscoring his decades-long career and impressive album sales.

In response to his eventual nomination, Osbourne expressed deep honour, reflecting on his journey as a musician and the unexpected joy of being considered for a second entry into the Rock Hall.

Despite his humility, he acknowledged the fierce competition among nominees.

The induction ceremony for the class of 2024 is scheduled for the 19th of October in Cleveland, Ohio.

In November of last year, Ozzy acknowledged that he had come to terms with the possibility that returning to live performances might not be feasible due to his ongoing health challenges, which include Parkinson’s disease and the recovery process from multiple surgeries. However, plans for “two more shows to say goodbye” have been hinted at by Sharon.

Despite health setbacks, Osbourne remains eager to create music, particularly with producer Andrew Watt, with whom he collaborated on his recent albums, “Ordinary Man” (2020) and “Patient Number 9” (2022).
