Ozzy Osbourne squares up to his mortality in “Under The Graveyard”

One of the more unexpected things to come out of this year was Ozzy Osbourne pairing up with Post Malone for a comeback collaboration. That’s right, the Godfather of Metal himself joined forces with the hip-hop wunderkind, as well as Travis Scott and Andrew Watt for “Take What You Want”.

The project was largely initiated by his daughter – “It all started when [daughter] Kelly comes in and says “Do you want to work on a Post Malone song?” My first thing was ‘Who the fuck is Post Malone?!’” – and inevitably sparked a continued collaboration with Watt as Osbourne chose to push through with his first album in nearly a decade.

“Under The Graveyard” is the first single off the album, which is slated for release in early 2020, and is a typically morbid track from the ex Black Sabbath frontman. Navigating bleak lyrical themes of the death’s chilly clutches, the track is rooted in acoustics meeting excessively peaking guitar solos and imploding into an expertly tempered combination of classic hard-rock foundations and pop-esque tendencies which hook and stick.

The Prince of Darkness is back with his best yet and it’s keeping us all on the edge of our seats.
