DJ Kaymoworld and Loatinover Pounds are in their bag on “Stecke”

The state of South African hip-hop has been reshaped by a string of rappers from Pretoria, and the incorporation of Spitori into contemporary styles of rap has been a game changer. DJ Kaymoworld, a familiar face in the local hip hop scene, having worked with the likes of Costa Titch and Gemini Major, knows how to mesh styles well. This is evidenced by his new single, “Stecke” which features Pretoria rapper Loatinover Pounds.

“Ake nyake di chomi ke nyakela Stecke” is ridiculously catchy, and that’s the first big positive about the song.  Pounds’ flow is flawless with swift movements between English and vernac. He has a few clever lines that reference everything from a clothing brand to a busy street in Joburg. The song about making it – aspirations of wealth and what they bring is driven by a mellow beat courtesy of CAASK ACID who helped produce the track.

The accompanying video embodies the spirit of a come up in a simple but effective way. It features quintessential scenes with an expensive car, stacks of money and in the company of beautiful women, flexing great cinematography and carrying an air of ghetto fabulousness.
