Journey To Jazz Festival returns for its third edition this year in the quaint town of Prince Albert from 1 – 4 May 2025, and it promises to be an absolute riot.
The Paolo Damiani Trio, Hilton Schilder, Ernie Smith, Siya Makuzeni and Kujenga will form part of line-up, thrilling jazz enthusiasts and travel adventurers from all around.
Carlo Mombelli and The Prisoners of Strange will also grace the stage, featuring Marcus Wyatt on horns, Maria Mombelli on voice and piano, Mark Fransman on woodwinds and Justin Badenhorst on drums – an all-star ensemble showcasing Mombelli’s signature bass-led compositions, interwoven with rich, emotive soundscapes.
The Outeniqua High School Jazz Band will also feature, celebrating young, regional South African talent.
Last but not least, our favourite jazz ensemble Kujenga will no doubt deliver an unforgettable performance, bringing their vibrant and spontaneous improvisational talent to the hills of the Karoo.
Set to the backdrop of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Prince Albert is making a name for itself as a cultural destination par excellence. Using the dynamic parlance of jazz music, Journey To Jazz will unfold across this sprawling ecological environment, making it an unmissable landmark in South African jazz.
