Johannesburg prog-rock outfit Deity’s Muse have dropped a video for their new track “Still in Hiding” off their forthcoming EP Lungs Full which is dropping in a week.
Shot during their opening slot with Jinjer in Centurion, the video candidly captures Deity’s Muse getting lost in the music: a moment as poignant as the song.
With unpredictable rhythms and heavy guitar riffs at his back, vocalist Wayne Boucher looks into the future and asks if we as humans are ready for what we’re hurtling towards.
There’s a specific kind of magic, a connectedness, that comes with going to a brilliant gig and that feeling is beautifully brought across.
There are no tricks to the camera work, it’s merely a documentation of a special moment for Deity’s Muse and it gives you a sense of what it was like being there. Each musician is in his own world yet still connected by the music as the mammoth crowd watches on, engaged and appreciative, revelling in the rock ‘n’ roll communion.
It captures a feeling that anyone who’s been to an exceptional gig knows.
It’s a feeling of being one with the people around you for a moment, even if those people are strangers.
