Bleachers’ new single “Stop Making This Hurt” is the vintage pop anthem we need to get us through this week

After the absolute treat that was “chinatown” featuring Bruce Springsteen, Bleachers return with a video for their new single “Stop Making This Hurt”, and as if that wasn’t enough, they’ve announced a new album titled, Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night, dropping 30 July 30.

“‘Stop Making This Hurt’ is what you get when we are not allowed to go play for our people. It’s a line that had been ringing in my head for years,” lead singer Jack Antonoff told Billboard about the song that features a number of Springsteen-esque characters.

“I fell into a dark place after a loss, and then starting to have that feeling of rage towards the depression — which is when you know there’s a way out. Started looking at the people close to me in my life and finding all the ways we keep ourselves from breaking through.”

In the video, Antonoff dances his way through a diner alongside its workers, to a sort of reckless abandon that feels almost desperate, as though whatever the hell is going on around him, his only aim is to keep on dancing.
