Basson Laubscher and The Violent Free Peace cut the frills with the music video for “Shoot Me Down”

The latest single from Basson Laubscher & The Violent Free Peace’s Testify album gets an accompanying no-nonsense music video of the bluesy rock ‘n’ roll band shredding their stuff in their rehearsal space.

There’s even a nod to Laubscher’s past with a poster of his last band, Zinkplaat, visible on the wall behind him.

Laubscher is a real blues man and this song certainly exemplifies that from the lyrical content, “Shoot Me Down” channels the frustration that comes from a relationship that has run its course, to the way he makes his stratocaster sing with his deft licks and tasteful solos.

The result is a powerful and rambunctious blues rock number, beautifully topped by Laubscher’s searing guitar solos and grunge vocals. It’s dirty as a backwater saloon and punchier than a bar fight.

And if “Shoot Me Down” doesn’t make you want to go to Laubscher’s next performance and headbang to some excellent blues rock, I don’t know what will.
