Onesimus champions African diversity in multilingual offering “My Woman” featuring Malome Vector, Lizwi Wokuqala and Janta MW

Focussing on cross cultural collaboration close to home, Malawian neo R&B artist Onesimus teams up with Malome Vector, Lizwi Wokuqala and rapper Janta MW for “My Woman”, whose verses slip seamlessly between English, Chichewa, isiZulu and SeSotho.

“My Woman” is a love song at its core, but it’s the pan-African scope of this track which really sets it apart. As Onesimus takes the lead, waxing romantic on the love of his life, his collaborators chime in, verse by verse, unspooling a letter of dedication and devotion across language barriers.

Hinged on an effortlessly earthy foundation, organic percussion and flutey synths, a driving – albeit subdued – beat propel the track forward. The accompanying visual keeps things simple – and perhaps a touch cliche – but polished frames of adoration, with the intermittent cameo from each collaborator lends authenticity to the delivery – championing African diversity within simple, punchy, sonic prowess.
