Pierre Stemmett takes a foray into rock ‘n’ roll for the first time with his latest single “SIlver Rings” – and there’s more where that came from, a whole album in fact. He’s planning on leaning away from his pop sensibilities in favour of a more organic rock sound and he’s flexing his versatility as he goes.
“Silver Rings” comes as an homage to the 1950’s – think rockabilly tempo which kicks up the proverbial dust of its time. It’s punchy and fresh, a reimagining of a bygone era, brought back to life with polished dynamism which sees him carry it off with flair.
There’s a video too, which keeps the retro scope strong. Compiled of archived footage, edited by Lata Wattam, it’s a delightfully authentic tribute to the era. Chronicling the summer frivolities of the ’50’s it captures a boygone time with gorgeously considered verity.
Pierre Stemmett just exhibited an ability to bypass generational musical hurdles, and I, for one, would like to hear a whole lot more.
