Get ready to celebrate Heritage Day with a brand new event. The 011 skate and music Festival is making its debut at the 011 Skate Park in Edenvale, offering a day-long celebration of homegrown talent and community.
This unique festival was founded by Geofrey Stewart and Riccardo Benigno. The idea came to Riccardo after he drove past the park one day and saw its potential. Now, that vision is becoming a reality.
The festival features an impressive lineup of musical acts, including rock legends Fuzigish, The Black Cat Bones, and Lefokolodi, as well as Shameless and a host of other DJs and performers. Local radio icon Catherine Grenfell will also be there to host the festivities.
But it’s not just about the music. The festival is bringing back the classic link between music and skate culture, a vibe reminiscent of the 2000s when magazines like Blunt were at the forefront of the local music scene. Top skaters will be on hand throughout the day, showcasing their skills and adding to the high-energy atmosphere.
This festival is for everyone, not just the skate crew. It’s designed to be a family-friendly day out, complete with a market, activities for kids, and bars from Jack Daniel’s and Devil’s Peak for adults.
“Come out and celebrate Heritage Day with us,” say Stewart and Benigno. What better way to honour our heritage than with a day dedicated to South African music, creativity, and community?
Tickets are available now. If you’re looking for a new way to celebrate this year, the 011 Skate and Music Festival is the perfect option.
