María Zardoya Unveils Debut Solo Album as Not for Radio

María Zardoya is stepping into a new era. Best known as the magnetic front-woman of The Marías, she’s now unveiled Melt, the debut album from her solo project Not for Radio. Dropping October 10th via Atlantic Records, the record signals a bold detour for Zardoya — one that arrives while her band continues to ride the high of their breakout moment.

Written and recorded in Upstate New York earlier this year alongside Sam Evian and longtime collaborator Luca Buccellati, Melt is steeped in gothic romanticism. Across its ten tracks, Zardoya translates solitude, grief, and creative intimacy into lush, psychedelic ballads. The project first surfaced in August with cryptic teasers across social media and streaming platforms, leaving fans speculating about her next move.

While Zardoya steps into new territory with Not for Radio, her work with The Marías shows no signs of slowing down. The band’s 2024 breakthrough album Submarine cracked the Billboard 200, delivered their first Hot 100 single “No One Noticed,” and secured collaborations with Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco. With Melt, Zardoya now steps fully into her own orbit — offering listeners a more intimate, spectral side of her artistry. You can pre-save the album now.
