It’s no secret that we’ve been dying to launch Your LMG up in Joburg and for the last month or so, we’ve been trying to put an infrastructure in place so that when we do, it’ll be epic. After all, I don’t do shit by any half measure.
So last Thursday I made a mission up to Joburg to interview/shoot my latest musical obsession, Shadowclub, for the November issue. The interview itself I conducted through bloodshot eyes (I’d been introduced to Greenside the night before – Bob’s 2 for 1 tequila, need I say anymore) and the shoot the next day was organised by Ravi Panchia at The Bohemian. I was considerably more alert the next day.

Now The Bohemian itself is an interesting spot. Ever been in a bar at 11:30am on a Saturday morning? Yeah, it smells like someone poured detergent over a brewery and set it alight. Regardless, the guys were amped – so much so that before I knew it, Jacques (vox) was wielding a kitchen knife, Louis (bass) was clambering on top of pool tables and Isaac (drums), apart from having his best shmodel face on, was ready to do some serious damage with a barstool. Me? Well… I’d opened a tab.

The soundtrack to the shoot was also quite spectacular… that awkward moment when ‘Moves like Jagger’ starts playing after a One Republic tune.

Conclusion? Ravi looked pleased. Chris looked impressed. The guys had to hightail to a gig in Potch. Sade was still on her Blackberry.
And if things go according to plan, this’ll be my proudest issue as editor to-date.
