Today on 5fm it was announced that electronic dance legends The Prodigy would be headlining Synergy Live at the end of this month.
The festival left announcing their headlining act incredibly late, with rumours running rampant of whom the phantom international could be.
Today they finally spilt the beans.
Now I’m not going to lie, when I heard that The Prodigy (Keith Flint, Liam Howlett and Maxim Reality) were coming I cringed slightly.
Synergy has taken an enormous “street cred” risk going from underground garage rock darlings Black Rebel Motorcycle Club to electronic, big beat legends, The Prodigy.
But after doing some research and finding that they’re semi-fresh off their headlining slot from Download festival in June, are currently in studio recording their 6th album “How To Steal A Jetfighter” and that Synergy has put in place the biggest sound rig of any South African festival to-date to accommodate the sheer magnitude of The Prodigy’s performance, I changed my tune completely. Excited? Of course you are.
This year, Joburg will be able to experience Synergy Live too with an extra 1 day event being added that will take place at Riversands Farm. Checkout The Prodigy on Facebook, Twitter and a collection of video of their Youtube Channel.
Here’s to Synergy 2012, may it be the best one yet.
