Searching For Sugar Man DVD Launches

The story of Sixto Díaz Rodríguez is truly remarkable.

His career initially proved short-lived with two albums in the early ‘70s and some brief touring in Australia. Unknown to him however, his work proved extremely successful and influential in South Africa with his work providing a soundtrack to anti-Apartheid protests.

In the ’90s, after it was mistakenly rumoured that he’d killed himself, 2 determined South African fans managed to seek out and contact him, leading to an unexpected revival of his musical career.

For those of you who have not seen the doccie, “Searching for Sugar Man“, it’s a truly remarkably piece of film that has won a few awards and has helped give Rodriguez a measure of fame in his native country.

Now tomorrow sees the launch of the DVD in South Africa and to celebrate it, I have 5 copies of the DVD and soundtrack to give away to the first 5 people who comment on this post and correctly answer this question – Name 1 original song sung by Rodriquez during his illustrious career? EASY.

It was also announced earlier this year that Rodriquez will be touring South Africa next year in February. I missed him the first time around so you can be sure I’ll be front and centre for that one.
