Last week Thursday, with a good few hours to go until cut-off time, Red Huxley reached their $25 000 target on Kickstarter.
What does this mean? Have you been living under a rock??
This means that, courtesy of the fabulous people who pledged money towards this campaign, the trio will be travelling the Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree, California to make an album with Eagles Of Death Metal’s guitarist, Dave Catching.
I sat down with Dylan to find out exactly how stoked the guys are about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
YOU GUYS DID IT. Was there ever any doubt you’d reach your target in time?
YEAH WE DID IT, SO STOKED! Ya there was definitely doubt! It’s a huge amount of money in such a short time and we worried we had bitten off more than we could chew. Very scary but very exciting. We had to give it a shot and we worked very hard to set it up before we launched it. Then during the 40 days we made as much noise as we could and hoped it was enough to get people as excited as we were about the project.
So you get to Rancho De La Luna, what’s the first thing you say to Dave Catching?
Duuuuude!! Let’s make a badass album!
What was Dave’s reaction when you told him you’d raised the money?

How’s the pre-production going and what can we expect on your debut album?
It’s going well. We are going to carry on once we’ve recovered from this weekend’s celebrations! We’re improving the old songs and we’ve got some cool new ones, coming soon to a live show near you! Our mind-set from day one has always been straight forward three piece, raw, basic and powerful, we’ll see what comes out the other end after spending time at Rancho!
What are you going to get tattooed on your arm, Dylan?
It’s going to be a medley of crazy ideas worked onto my arm as one work. There is still some debating to be done with the crazy pledgers. So far we got faces, names, animals who knows? Cape Electric is very keen get working on it so we’ll send pics when it’s done.
You did this without any corporate backing, without the help of “the man”, if you will. Does it make reaching your target that much sweeter?
Yes it does, the response from fans was really amazing, it’s awesome to know that there are people out there so keen to help and support the band and we can’t wait to give back to them!

To everyone who pledged money, shared, tweeted, screamed and spammed, it means so much to us and we’re working hard right now to make your hard-earned moola into a great album with Dave Catching.
