If you follow me at all on these social networking thingies, you’ll know that I have nothing but love for Matthew Mole.
The Converse Get Out Of The Garage platform was instrumental in shaping his career path and I’m very happy to announce that it’s back for 2013.
Last year 138 unsigned local bands from a variety of genres submitted their demos to Converse via soundcloud and YouTube links for the chance to record in New York and play at the iconic 100 Club in London.
Converse is again on the hunt for unsigned talent to Get Out Of The Garage and be transported to the UK to play this epic venue later this year. Then the winner will be whipped off to New York to record at the **Rubber Tracks studio in Brooklyn. Whether you are a punk rocker, electro fundi, kick-ass proponent of kwaito, or a hip hop playa, Converse wants to hear your sound.
From the 9th of July until the 8th of August, visit the Converse Facebook Page and upload a soundcloud version of your best track. Then on the 15th of August, judges Catherine Grenfell, Jon Savage, and Reason will have narrowed down the entries to SA’s Top 10 unsigned artists. Converse will then showcase these acts on Facebook, where South African music fans can vote for their favourite. Simply by voting, fans have a chance to join their favourite band VIP style to London for the gig.
Get Out Of The Garage, share your music and showcase your talent via the app here and be part of the conversation on Twitter with the #Play100Club hashtag. The overall winner will be announced on the 16th of September 2013, and soon after take the stage at Rocking the Daisies 2013.
