King Lutendo shows no sign of slowing down with the release of Vharunwa: Side B

King Lutendo, Vhavenda producer and rapper, returns with the sequel to his recently dropped Vharunwa. It’s easy to tell from first listen that these tracks continue in much the same vein as  those on Lutendo’s first instalment, as he raps with rapid precision, seamlessly weaving verses in Tshivenda, English and vernac. Like the previous release, hard bars take priority over catchy hooks.

“My old ways could never fix new stress, so I grow with the path, done trying to fight change,” Lutendo raps on the opening track “Comet”. And this sentiment is a constant throughout the project, as he focuses on progress in the face of shortcomings and adapting to change.

“Everything” is a perfect showcase of the meticulous producer King Lutendo is, with a nocturnal beat that you can almost imagine JPEGMAFIA rapping over. While closer “NGOHO KHULU (IMMOVABLE)” is another testament to his prowess as a producer and a rapper.

Vharunwa Side B sees Lutendo sticking with his darker, low-end heavy sound, as it continues the theme of learning from one’s mistakes, while simultaneously focused on acceptance of the past.
