Year Of Dogs announce farewell show at District

The time has come to say a bittersweet goodbye to Year of Dogs, Cape Town’s much loved indie-groove-pop band. With their lead singer, Nic van Graan, emigrating to distant shores, the group will be marking the end of an era with a final show before going on a hiatus from live performances.

Aptly named “Good Boy, For Now” and hosted by Foul Play, the band’s final performance promises to be an unforgettable night of great music and doggone good vibes. Joining Year of Dogs on Saturday, 15 July, at District, Cape Town, is a selection of South Africa’s finest artists, including Manu Grace, Bam Bam Brown, and Tanaka, with late-night DJ duties fulfilled by Strangemonkey X The Kwagga.

“It’s crazy to think of all we’ve achieved and done over the past three years. It’s been such a privilege to make music and have the opportunity to come out and share it with friends, family and new fans. It’s been so special to do it all with some of my best friends, and I’d like to thank all of the lovely faces who’ve been a part of our journey and for supporting us at every step of the way – it’s truly been one of the greatest experiences of my life so far. This next chapter is going to be an interesting one, and while we might not be able to play shows anymore, you best believe it’s not going to stop us from making more music!” says van Graan.

Joining Year of Dogs on stage are Manu Grace, a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who’s sensitive pop style has seen her tour Europe with artists like Maya Hawk and Honeymoan; Bam Bam Brown, who’s eclectic approach to song writing and performance have led to headlining slots at festivals such as Oppikoppi, Up The Creek, and Kirstenbosch; and Tanaka, an up-and-coming indie pop artist known for his idiosyncratic sound and introspective lyrics that transport listeners to other worlds.
