I think it’s only fair, after completely slating the Van Coke Kartel music video the other day, to now give you an example of what I consider to be a good quality music video.
Mr Cat & the Jackal are one of those bands that, when you watch them, you don’t feel like you’re at a normal gig or feel the need to behave in normal gig-like ways. I never need to pee during a MRCATJ performance, or smoke a ciggie, or venture to the bar (I know right, wtf??) purely because I feel like I’m watching a once-off theatre performance that I’d kick myself if I missed.
They create an entire world for you through their performance: from their use of exoskeletons/puppets onstage (Ramfest/Koppi), to the sheer beauty and captivating essence their wide range of instruments, some self-made, lend to their music.
But enough from me, enjoy their music video for ‘Bad Man He Comin” below.
Mr.Cat & the Jackal – Bad Man He Comin’ (OFFICIAL) from Yesterfang on Vimeo.
Shot by the brilliant Bruce Geils from Flyinghorse Photography and directed by Yesterfang Puppetry, this is one of the most frighteningly beautiful things I’ve seen in a long time.
Did you not freak the hell out when the bad man/puppet puts his hand inside the sleeping man’s shirt? AAAAA. *ahem*.
Happy Monday kids.
