All Together Now

Bacardi went all out last night for their Better Together event held at the Woodstock Industrial Centre. Fusing together the talents of artist Daniel Ting Chong, chef Kobus van der Merwe and DJ Sibot, Bacardi fashioned a first of its kind event in the country that seemed appreciated by those blessed with invites only.

Balloons - straight outta an 80s prom.

A Word of Art gallery was packed full of red, yellow and blue balloons that picked up  on the colour scheme of the flyer (clever, neh?) and also flagged the tables where an amazing selection of artsy food was laid out for consumption. Pineapple and beetroot on a stick. Camera ready for Andrew Berry. Those people smashing burgers in their faces? Not so much.

Nasturtium leaves in my face.

The bar was the high point. You’ll never hear me complain about waiting 10 minutes to order a cocktail when the booze is free. But after a good few minutes of staring at the same faces you need something else to look at. The Greek (aka +1/Anthony) became obsessed with everyone’s shoes. He almost conned me into taking photos of one particularly hideous pair. I refrained. I don’t run no fashion blog.

Wall Art, so hot right now.

Those liquid cheffos were churning out Daiquiris, Cuba Libres, Mojitos and some drink that had something to do with Appletiser, like they were Bacardi Bats possessed. Dozens at a time. Tom Cruise in Cocktail shit yo. It was round about this time I realised I had the best view in the house.

"I pour so fast I blur"

One spilt Mojito, two Jesus sandals and three Twitter introductions later, I thought it might be time to checkout DJ Sibot. Mr Sakitumi looked impressed. I tried my best to imitate his expression. I only ended up back at the bar.

I know what you're thinking...

It was after I ran out of ciggies that I began to feel like I was in the middle of one, huge creative wank, but that’s how these things go I suppose. Nice to see Bacardi supply “Time Out” bottles of water on the bar to promote responsible drinking. I’m mucho pedantic about drinking and driving. Maybe it’s because I don’t drive. Most probably.

High five/air kisses to Jen from Bacardi for one memorable Together party. Your organisational skills are second to none lady.

Now this is a night light I can dig.
