So yesterday I was sitting in the airport after having missed my flight and I was doing my daily Facebook run when I got a message from a local musician.
His request was one I get quite frequently: “Please can you sharing my upcoming gig.”
My natural reaction was to immediately share the event, but then it got me thinking… and so I posted the below status:
I was quite surprised at the response to a very simple status & tweet – the cherry on top seeing the support from Rocking The Daisies – and after Studio 7 founder Patrick Craig came up with a killer hashtag, I thought, why not see how much buzz we can make around this?
So to reiterate, your challenge for August is to attend 1 live gig a week. Then when you’re there all you have to do is make mention of it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine, whatever you like so long as you include the #1LiveGigAWeek hashtag.

I’ve decided that I’m also going to put together a portfolio of every photo, every post and every tweet that includes the #1LiveGigAWeek hashtag – yes, I love to create additional admin for myself but I think that this could be a really rad initiative for the month of August.
Plus I’d love to see how many people actually get off their asses and come to the party, literally.
