New Volume’s latest video for “The Lucky Ones” is an alternative pop anthem that even has a video game to boot

You know the feeling you get driving through a city at night? Lights flying past, a mellow haze on the streets, surrounded by cars still you couldn’t feel more happily alone? Well that’s what you get in “The Lucky Ones”, New Volume’s latest video single.

Front man Tyron Layley drives purple roads until dawn, finally reaching the open countryside and running free. It’s a liberating visual to match the band’s exhilarating pop spirit – a spirit that could match even the likes of Bastille.

The SA-born, London-based band have been on our radar for a while now, from sold out European tours to CSI: New York featured tracks, back again with assured fashion.

There’s also an online video game to accompany the track, and yes, of course I played it a few more times than I’d like to admit. Set upon the same purple city visuals, the player drives a car through an open, palm tree-lined road, using their PC’s left and right arrows to avoid crashing into signposts and trucks, as the track plays away in the background.

The entire package is slick and novel and I can’t wait to see how they top this.
