Listen to Gerard Way feature on Trivium’s Matt Heafy’s new Ibaraki single “Rōnin”

Trivium’s Matt Heafy has released a new song from his black metal project Ibaraki’s upcoming debut album, Rashomon, and My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way features on the song “Rōnin”.

If you are still waiting for new music from MCR, you’re probably gonna be here a while, but at least the My Chem frontman has abated our appetites somewhat with this tasty treat.

“While Gerard and I may be from different genres than where Ibaraki and black metal stem from – outsiders of sorts – the spirit and intent of our performances is what unites our passion for pushing boundaries,” Heafy said about the collaboration.

Ibaraki has shared two other singles before “Rōnin” – “Akumu” which features Behemoth’s Nergel and “Tamashii No Houkai” with Ihsahn.

Rashomon will feature 10 tracks and will be released on May 6 but while you wait, watch the kaleidoscopic music video of the nine-minute track below, whilst appreciating Way’s shrill shrieks.
